Love of cooking

Does anyone have a cookbook like this? I've had it since 1987, it's falling apart and I'm pretty sure some pages are missing but I love it and could never get rid of it!!

Most of the "sections" of the book that separated are at recipes that have been used over and over.

That's one way to know if something is well used...it's condition.  I know people who receive cookbooks as gifts. I think others are trying to encourage them to cook....because they can't.  But the books sit around, never used, never loved.

I feel sorry for an used cookbook  lol.

A heck of a wind!!

Last night we had 75-90 km/h wind gusts, according to the Weather Network.  And it sure sounded windy in here!!

It's very unnerving being in a double-wide trailer up on a hill when the wind is like that.  The howling through the trees was unlike any I've heard before.  It makes you wish for a basement.  The dog didn't like it much either.  Needless to say last night was not very restful.  I'll be needing a nap later today!

The BBQ is down off the deck, some of the deck table tiles are askew and our shovels were misplaced about 50 feet.  So fat that seems to be the extent of our damage from the wind storm last night.

Hope everyone else is safe.

Time to clean up!

This week (at least) will be about organizing our house. The spare room, the kitchen, the pantry etc. We still have things we haven't even unpacked! I'm hoping to get rid of a lot of stuff too and most will be put away for a spring yard sale.

I found some great tips online. Please share any tips you have, I can use all the help I can get!!!

Banana Bread & Pizza Overload!!

Today I made 9 loaves of banana bread.

9!?!  lol  Yes, that's a lot.  For the last couple of years of Ray working away for the winter he has worked for the same two consultants.  I can't remember exactly when it started but when he comes home for days off he always leaves with banana bread for these two consultants.

They have almost come to expect it now lol.  Well over the holidays I went with Ray while he did rig watch and everyone, including the consultants, were on their holidays. When they came back, Ray brought me home and had his days off.  So there was no banana bread for them for a bit.

This had to be rectified! lol When we went grocery shopping we couldn't find any ripe bananas anywhere and it was looking like they might go without banana bread again for a while.  Our last stop in the Beaverlodge IGA and we struck gold.  haha. They had a bunch of ripe bananas.  So, I grabbed a few bags.

I didn't really think I had that many until I started baking the next day.  My usual double batch turned in to 3 double batches!!  And since I used some smaller tin foil pans, it worked out to 9 loaves.

So, no one will be missing banana bread for a bit now!!

As if that wasn't enough I decided to make some pizzas for Ray for work and for the freezer.  So our bulk cooking marathon continued and we knocked out 4 large and 6 personal size pizzas!

Enough cooking - time to eat!!
